Join Pixel Verdict's Canadian contingency as they waste about an hour of your time. Jon's been playing Brutal Legend, and throws the gauntlet down for one Tim Schafer of Doublefine Studios. Adam has been spending quality time with his wife and Rock Band. Steve's wife, meanwhile, is cheating on him with his copy of Brutal Legend, so Steve drowns his loneliness with Demon's Souls, and the amazing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Borderlands. The boys discuss the news of the week (or lack thereof) with their typically Canadian lack of zeal, including Steve's dissatisfaction with Natal support for Fable II and Fable III; Grand Theft Auto thrusting beyond the borders of good taste; a new game from the Timeshift guys; and Street Fighter IV's Seth gets tougher. Adam waxes philosophical about a particular '90s cinematic masterpiece featuring a pre-Party of Five Scott Wolfe and short shorts-wearin' Alyssa Milano. You'll have to listen to find out what it is. It's a rare Filibuster Legion of Heroes episode, as Dave, Mac, Erich, Mike, and Michael join forces to talk Dracula: Ballet with a Bite, the idiocy of Roland Emmerich, the genius of Zombie Yo Gabba Gabba, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Halloween Special, Grimace Private Investigator, the fine line between helmets and hats, the Citizen Kane stunt spectacular, and so much more. It's a laugh-packed hour of observational comedy.

DVD Verdict 441 - The Friday Filibuster [10/09/09]

Dave, Erich, Michael, and Mike carry on in Mac's absence. Michael takes on Snow White and the gang from Toy Story, Erich catches up on last week's new Fall television discussion, and Dave beefs up his zombie killing arm, while Mike seems oddly fixated on apes wielding bats. Nevertheless, consider the following challenges posed: What classic movie would you upgrade to 3D? Identify a monosyllabic lackey and a famous offscreen character. Build you own superhero team using Dave's bizarre formula.

Kent and Michelle bemoan the chill in the air, but waste no time jumping into a review-tastic episode. On the news front: the new JJ Abrams spy series sparks a bidding war; Transformers 3 gets a release date (meh); a fun-filled summer 2011 film season is on the way; MGM seeks a loan shark; James Franco checks into General Hospital; Quentin Tarantino says no more Pulp, but maybe Basterds or Bill; rumors of a Jack-less Pirates franchise are untrue says Disney; Madagascar and Monsters vs. Aliens head home for the holidays; and a 3D Beauty and the Beast is on the way. Rounding out the show, we head back into the Disney Vault for the 3D double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, and offer up reviews for Animal Planet's Elephants and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Season 8.

In addition, it's a triple header film review segment, as he looks at the Ricky Gervais comedy The Invention of Lying, the offbeat action-comedy Zombieland, and Drew Barrymore's directorial debut Whip It. DVD Verdict 436 - Blast Processing! Go Team Canada!

The head shrinker takes a week off, leaving the inmates to run the asylum. Steve, Adam, and Jon bring some Canadian flair to the proceedings, as they dig deep, peel back the layers, and get to the real heart of video game podcasting. Adam talks about World of Warcraft content updates, Jon gets Wet, Steve races fast cars and prances around New Mombasa as Nathan Fillion, and share the Scribblenauts love. We learn no one wants a PSP Go, Super Street Fighter 4 is coming, Dave Johnson needs a new roof, Steve wants Enslaved, plus Bioware (but not pure wholesome Canadian Bioware) and Lucasarts are gearing to start beta testing on Star Wars: The Old Republic. Meanwhile, more games are scheduled for Q1 2010 (including obscure stuff only Steve cares about) and Demon's Souls is made HARDER? What? We wrap everything up with a discussion about crappy physics or crappy Genesis games. This episode may be bad, but it ain't Earnest Evans!

The juicy whos whats and hows lie within, along with the 'Splosion Man demo, Castle Crashers, Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit, Golden Axe: Beast Rider, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. In the news: new Left 4 Dead content no one will buy, a Turtles in Time Re-Shelled price drop, shrinking Xbox 360 install sizes, Braid comes to PS3, and classic rockers "Tap" into Rock Band. Finally, Symposium Ad Nauseum: Roid Raging. Just in case you were wondering, this week's episode definitely wasn't derailed by a lengthy discussion about Reginald VelJohnson. Yeah right.

DVD Verdict 400 - Blast Processing! Life is But a Dream

The Newfoundland dream team Steve and Jon join Erich for almost exactly an hour of video game tomfoolery. First up, a couple of fighting games that aren't Street Fighter IV and PC games that aren't World of Warcraft. Erich partly recants last week's tirade against The Beatles: Rock Band track list, which leads into a discussion about the future of music games. Steve runs down the news, including more games pushed to 2010, Marvel super heroes invade LittleBigPlanet, and no more Halo after Reach... or is there? This week's Symposium Ad Nauseum asks disturbing questions like, "Is Link a practicing cannibal?" and "Are we all just figments of Steve Power's imagination?" Listen if you dare.

DVD Verdict 395 - Blast Processing! Leper Dead (aka Zack Attack)

This week's show feels a lot longer than it actually is, but is that good or bad? You decide. Erich, Dave, and Adam tackle a full slate of games in Now Playing, including Red Faction: Guerrilla, Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2, Crackdown, N+ and Punch-Out!! multiplayer, Boom Blox, and Metroid Fusion. After a couple of false starts (edited out and best forgotten), the gang tackles this week's News rundown: a 360 update, Rock Band user-created content, The Beatles: Rock Band track list woes, black Wiis (but not for us), Streets of Rage hits the iPhone, and the Summer of Arcade gets pricey. The show usually ends with Symposium Ad Nauseum, but this week devolves into a brainstorming session for a Saved By The Bell brawler. Help us Jimmy Fallon, you're our only hope!

Dave, Tim, and Erich celebrate our Big 21st podtacufest with an epic discussion about music games, the bait-and-switch of 1 vs. 100, Crackdown co-op, and Dave basks in a bagful of cheap used games. In the news: Sagat is overpowered, PS3 getting more Fallout 3, lonely game nerds love night vision goggles, and Tim polishes his monocle while regaling the crew with tales of Club Nintendo platinum membership. This week's Symposium Ad Nauseum ("Story that made the least amount of sense") throws Erich for a loop but he manages to land on his feet. Whew! In Now Playing, Steve talks BlazBlue and Crimson Gem Saga, Jon dips back into Okami and pays tribute to the late Mr. Jackson with Moonwalker, and Erich wonders how best to spend 400 Microsoft points: N+ or Kodu? One lengthy game-creation discussion later, Steve runs down the week's big news stories, including the demise of Eidos, Blizzard nixing LAN support in Starcraft II, and Best Buy's new PS3 bundle. The group wraps things up with an awesome idea for a new video game, and this week's Symposium Ad Nauseum: Cartoons Based on Video Games (complete with clips of cheesy '80s theme songs!). In the newly named (thanks to Tim) Now Playing segment, the boys talk World of Warcraft addiction, Resident Evil 5 woes, Mario Kart, Picross DS, and Tiger Woods 10. In News, Tim looks forward to Brutal Legend; Adam's joy about potential PS2 backwards compatibility on the PS3 is dampened by a cynical take on Sony's business model; and Erich fires back at the Wii Demo Play whiners. Dave may not be on the podcast this week, but he's here in spirit thanks to his most bizarre Symposium Ad Nauseum topic yet: Video game character you would least like to be trapped with in the boiler room of Bayside High during the senior prom. With E3 officially underway, Tim, Steve, Jon, and Erich tackle the near-opposite Nintendo and Sony press conferences. On the one hand, brand new Mario games, a mind-blowing Metroid announcement, and the head-scratching introduction of a so-called vitality sensor. On the other, two hours of blockbuster high-def gaming mixed with an awkward me too motion control demo and the unveiling of the not-so-secret PSP Go. It's Blu-ray vs. Blue Ocean and the boys have plenty to discuss. Plus, Steve, Tim, and Jon weigh in on Microsoft's showing with surprisingly mixed opinions.

Erich, Dave, and Adam unpack all of the excitement, disappointment, big (and not-so-big) reveals, guest stars, and sci-fi future tech of Microsoft's E3 2009 press conference. Will Project Natal redefine gaming, or fall flat on its motion-sensing face? What does Hideo Kojima unveiling Metal Gear Solid Rising at a Microsoft conference mean for fanboy flame wars? And do we really care about Facebook on the Xbox 360? All this, and last-minute speculation about the Sony and Nintendo press conferences.

DVD Verdict 348 - Blast Processing! "Nigh-Erotic Love"

As Erich takes a week off to sojourn on the magical voyage of fatherhood, Dave, Steve and Jon begin the show by helping him with video game-inspired name options for his bouncing, baby offspring. And that's as warm and fuzzy as it gets, as the discussion promptly diverts into the realm of the bloody and eviscerated with three takes on Raven's vicious new hack 'n slash, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. From there, it's on to Jon once again setting the bandwidth on fire through his nigh-erotic love affair for Capcom and their plan to bring over some PS1 classics to the PlayStation Network; Steve tossing in more grist to the rumor mill with speculation over Apple buying out EA; and Dave weighing the ethical questions of stores licensing exclusive gameplay content through their pre-ordering process. Finally, it's a trip around the horn sounding off about this week's Symposiumn ad Nauseum topic: video game dogs. Woof!

DVD Verdict 343 - Blast Processing! "Making Bear Money"

Maybe it was the late night recording session, but this week's episode is a wacky one, with tangents and teasing a-plenty. When the game talk finally begins, Erich, Dave, Tim, and Adam chat about new DLC for Left 4 Dead and Street Fighter IV, the retro goodness of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and The Typing of the Dead, Too Human, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Crackdown, Pure, Chrono Trigger, Peggle Dual Shot, the newest addition to the Asperschlager household, and a yard sale opportunity missed. An abbreviated news segment touches on the head-scratching possibilities of a game in which Mr. T fights Nazis, and the latest rumors about the next PSP. That last item leads into a discussion of dead video formats for some reason, followed by Dave surprising the group with this week's Symposium Ad Nauseum topic--an experiment in improvisation we probably won't try again.

Confused by the title of this show? This week's podcast doesn't offer many answers. Still, Erich, Dave, Jon, and Steve try to make sense of their corner of the gaming world while talking about Far Cry 2, Too Human, Ninja Blade, Fire Pro Wrestling, Rhythm Heaven, Samurai Shodown Anthology, Resident Evil 4, and Conan. It's Canada 3 - America 1, as Erich welcomes Adam, Jon, and Steve to talk games and correct his meager knowledge of Canadian geography. They talk Demon's Souls, Sly Cooper 2, Hammerin' Hero, Legends of Wrestlemania, Suikoden Tierkreis, Resident Evil 4, and Tetris DS. In news, Jon's excitement about an early release for PS3-exclusive inFamous turns into a debate about the marketing wisdom of using demos as pre-order bonuses, Steve joins the throngs of Xbox 360 owners rejoicing over Microsoft adding the E74 error to its 3-year warranty, and Adam uses his +4 charm to get everyone to care about the new World of Warcraft patch. Not having a site to write for means the boys have been playing some games, including PS3-import Demon Souls, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Halo Wars, Left 4 Dead, Street Fighter IV, Peggle, Rock Band 2, and a little too much Braid. In the news segment, Erich opens up the DSi launch to podcast scrutiny, Steve wonders whether it's too soon for Six Days in Fallujah, Tim rants about Time Warner's tiered bandwidth caps, and Dave throws his support behind Steve Wiebe's upcoming attempt to set the new Donkey Kong world record. DVD Verdict 326 - Blast Processing! "Major Announcement, Minor Disappointment"

It's a podcast for the ages! Erich is back this week and rushes to the Wii's defense, forcing Adam, Tim, and Jon to all say something nice about Nintendo's beleaguered system. He then lightens up enough to lead a discussion of games being played, including two versions of Resident Evil 4, Chrono Trigger on the DS, the Rhythm Heaven demo, Halo Wars, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, and Sin and Punishment. After a brief respite to catch up on GDC announcements for new Zelda and Syndicate games, the boys launch into an epic throwdown on the pluses and minuses of Sony dropping the price on the PS2 instead of the PS3. Feathers fly, punches are thrown; frankly, it's a wonder no one died during the recording. The show wraps up with a lightning round of Symposium Ad Nauseum and Jon's musings about Square Enix's takeover of Eidos.

If you thought that description was long, wait 'til you hear the podcast. Those who make it to the end should let us know by emailing feedback@pixelverdict.com

DVD Verdict 323 - The Friday Filibuster [03/27/09]

Michael joins Dave and Mac for one of the weirdest recording sessions in Filibuster's near 100 episode history. There's no 24 talk this week, but they do fit in a spoiler-filled discussion of the BSG series finale. Mac reviews The Tale of Despereaux and ABC's Castle, exposing his man crush on Nathan Fillion. Dave immerses himself in 8 Films to Die For and gushes about I Love You Man. Michael enjoyed his Race to Witch Mountain but was disappointed by Schoolhouse Rock: Earth. Recalling Saturday mornings with California Dreams and Hang Time. Horrible movie-going experiences. Characters with ginormous ears. Michael leaves Dave speechless. Oh, and don't tune out before the end credits.

Erich's out sick this week, leaving Dave in charge of unruly crew Tim, Adam, and Steve, who join him for some good-natured Wii bashing before spoiling Braid, musing on the possible game-changing OnLive, and launching into an epic roundtable discussion of this week's Symposium Ad Nauseum topic: Objectively Crappy Games That You Love. Titles discussed include Time Killers, Weaponlord, Shaq-Fu, Two Worlds, and Batman for the Commodore 64.

It's a two-on-two showdown when Dave and Erich face off against Newfoundlanders Steve and Jon in an audio battle for North American supremacy. Actually, the boys just talk about gaming for an epic-ish hour and twenty minutes, including Resident Evil of the 4 and 5 varieties; the bloody good time that is Mad World on Wii; the casual awesomeness of Peggle on XBLA; Nintendo selling their 100 millionth DS; what Ninja Gaiden 2 going to PS3 means for fanboys everywhere; whether Resident Evil 5 DLC is worth it; and the possibility of fighting fans getting an update for Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
